INIT meets customer needs for integrated public transport systems

initplan and initperdis merge to form INIT Mobility Software Solutions

Karlsruhe / Hamburg, 24 March 2021.

The public transport sector is in a phase of technological and economic upheaval. This situation is compounded by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which requires new solutions to be found in response to changing customer needs, with broader, more integrated IT solutions. As a worldwide leading supplier of integrated planning, dispatching, telematics and ticketing systems for buses and trains, init innovation in traffic systems SE (INIT) is at the cutting edge of this development and has now responded with a restructuring of their organization. Its previously independent subsidiaries initplan and initperdis, responsible for planning and personnel dispatching systems, have now been amalgamated to form INIT Mobility Software Solutions GmbH to better serve the current requirements of transport companies.

Planning and dispatching are core operational processes of a transport company. We are confident that the consolidation of our two companies is a great step in helping us serve the needs of our customers even more effectively and efficiently. The new INIT company occupies a stronger market position than the previously separate entities, with more resources in development, enabling us to respond even faster to new customer requirements

INIT Mobility Software Solutions operates in three locations in Karlsruhe, Braunschweig and Hamburg, employing a total of 70 people. The former initplan GmbH is based in Karlsruhe, from where it supports transport companies in their complex tasks of timetable, block and duty planning. Its main product, MOBILE-PLAN, helps to optimise these processes and provides downstream systems of the integrated INIT ITS solution as well as third-party systems with basic and scheduling data. The planning system integrates a wide range of supportive tools and functionalities that increase productivity while keeping the interests of passengers and drivers in mind. As one example, it allows timetables to be optimised based on statistical data to make them more robust and efficient.

Broader portfolio and increased sales effectiveness

Headquartered in Hamburg, initperdis GmbH – formerly id systeme GmbH – was founded in 1995 and in 2011 became a wholly-owned subsidiary of init SE. Its primary objective is the development and distribution of the personnel dispatching system MOBILE-PERDIS and the depot management system MOBILE-DMS.

MOBILE-PERDIS organises the entire staff deployment process, from creating duty rosters to transferring data for payroll accounting. It is an integrated feature of INIT’s planning and dispatching solution and supports the Intermodal Transport Control System MOBILE-ITCS. MOBILE-DMS automates vehicle dispatching and streamlines processes in the depot. This includes the positioning of vehicles, their assignment to service or workshop schedules as well as optimised assignment of parking spaces to ensure most efficient pull-outs.

We currently supply more than 150 public transport companies and authorities with these software solutions. The new company INIT Mobility Software Solutions offers a broader portfolio of products and services, with greater sales effectiveness. We therefore see a good opportunity here to expand our business volume
