TapNGo: the open-loop Ticketing-as-a-Service solution

Account-based ticketing – simply board and check in

(c) HanseCom

Making public transport more attractive to new passengers and turning occasional travellers into regular passengers is every transport company’s goal. Simple, user-friendly ticketing can be the basis for this. With TapNGo, our Ticketing-as-a-Service (TaaS) solution, you can offer your passengers efficient and reliable account-based ticketing based on EMV* and therefore increase your revenue.

TaaS is administered and operated by INIT. This platform approach saves you investment and installation costs, and by eliminating cash handling, you can make further cost savings. You can also gradually introduce the account-based TapNGo system as an additional sales channel, alongside a closed-loop (company card) system and traditional paper ticketing.

Your passengers check in with their bank card (physical card or smartphone wallet) on a ticket terminal when they board the vehicle. They don’t need to download an app and don’t have to top up a prepaid travel card. Their bank card also serves as their ticket, as their travel authorization is linked to a customer account in the back-office system. There’s no need for paper tickets or prepaid travel cards – passengers simply board the vehicle without even needing to understand complex fare tariffs. They can just tap and go.

The back-office system bundles their journeys and debits the corresponding amount from the passenger’s account the following day. Fare capping also applies, meaning when your passengers hit a day cap, that is the maximum they pay.
