MOBILEmodi: Mobile dispatch via app

Public transport companies and their dispatchers often find it indispensable to get access to operations information outside their control centre. This can be achieved by using MOBILEmodi, an extension of the Intermodal Transport Control System MOBILE-ITCS for dispatching with the help of mobile devices. It provides traffic supervisors with all important information any time and any place. They can acccess the same data as their colleagues in the control centre at prominent stops, at major events or while resolving serious issues.

The tablet-specific app enables mobile dispatchers to choose from different display formats. MOBILEmodi provides an overview of all vehicles registered in the ITCS as well as of their current status.

The traffic supervisor or dispatcher can take a look at vehicle and stop lists. Furthermore, he can choose blocks or trips and can display their timetables including current and most recent off-routes as well as the actual vehicle positions. In the map display stops, vehicles and the locations of further mobile dispatchers can be shown clearly. Besides, text messages from vehicles and other users can be received as well as sent.

In addition to text messaging, MOBILEmodi allows for voice radio communication based on GSM. This can be used for single calls to either another MOBILEmodi dispatcher, to a vehicle connected to GSM, to a dispatcher in the control centre or to any other number available through GSM, e.g. the depot. Furthermore, MOBILEmodi allows for embedding MOBILEforms, INIT’s forms management system. This enables the traffic supervisor to document the proceedings directly into the ITCS. Thus, the colleagues in the control centre are always informed about the on-site situation.

Moreover, present RTPI displays can optionally be activated. It is possible to send texts to the displays directly by using the tablet. Other ITCS functions can be added on request.
