INIT Australia

INIT is a global leader in providing comprehensive IT solutions for public transport, specialising in integrated planning, dispatching, telematics, and ticketing systems for buses and trains. With a history spanning over four decades, INIT has been dedicated to enhancing the attractiveness, reliability, and efficiency of public transport. Our solutions are trusted by more than 1,100 transport providers and operators globally, helping them navigate the complexities of daily operations and improve service delivery.

INIT, originally founded in Karlsruhe, Germany, now operates in over 30 global locations, including a significant presence in Australia and New Zealand. INIT Australia was established 15 years ago with an office in Brisbane, and we have recently expanded with a new office in Sydney's Barangaroo precinct. This expansion supports our commitment to enhancing public transport systems with advanced solutions, including our new electromobility offerings, across the region.

Portfolio

INIT's extensive product portfolio is designed to address the full spectrum of operational needs for public transport providers. In Australia, where the demand for innovative and efficient transport solutions is ever-growing, key areas of our offerings have proven to be particularly crucial for bus and coach operators, as well as state and local government agencies:

Zero Emission Buses

A major focus of INIT’s electromobility portfolio is to run the new wave of e-busses in Australia as cost-effectively as possible. Key features include charge management, range prediction and monitoring. You will find indispensable information on the proper electrification of a bus fleet on our special page on the implementation of electric buses and what there is to consider. Just click here:

Our systems can range from checking whether the remaining battery charge is enough to finish a route to making strategic decisions for your fleet's electrification. Our solutions can step in to ensure all buses are loaded highly efficiently without tapping into expensive high-peak periods.

Mobility Expert

INIT’s presence in Europe and North America has helped both areas get ahead in establishing zero-emissions bus networks with public transport authorities and operators. INIT is looking forward to opening up the same benefits for Australian operators who want to electrify their fleets and letting them profit from our lessons learned.

Charge Management

Bus operators have to decide where to charge their vehicles: in the depot and/or en route. They need a central charge management system that integrates vehicles, charging points, depot management, and the energy supply. To plan and control charging processes cost-efficiently and avoid expensive peak loads, INIT’s MOBILEcharge is the obvious choice.

Range Prediction

Electric buses have a shorter range than Diesel buses and are more susceptible to climate or topography. To be certain that the vehicles will always finish their blocks or to take dispatching measures in time, it is essential to monitor their charge levels en route and also calculate their remaining range as accurately as possible – easily done with INIT’s MOBILErange.

Depot Management

In order to use electric buses in the most efficient way, a depot management system such as MOBILE-DMS is mandatory: e-buses’ current charge levels, ranges, available charging bays, and planned pull-outs are all taken into account as soon as a vehicle enters the depot. With a depot management system, the e-buses will always reach their full potential.

Cloud-based fleet management

It is essential to track, monitor and dispatch one‘s fleet in real time, know about possible delays and provide passengers with up-to-date information on arrivals and departures. LIVErtpi is an easy to understand, modular, cloud-based fleet management solution that gives supervisors and dispatchers a thorough overview of their en route vehicles (buses, trams, subways, etc.). The solution includes tools for driver communication and reporting. Passengers receive all important information on their journey via app, website or passenger information displays in vehicles or at stops/stations. As a web-based Software-as-a-Service solution, LIVErtpi requires no upfront investments. Of course, the solution allows you to monitor the current State of Charge of your e-buses en route. So you can always be sure the battery is fully operational and the buses will finish their blocks or you can initiate dispatch measures in time.

What INIT can help you to achieve
